Annamaria Enenajor quoted in Globe and Mail article

Annamaria Enenajor, the managing partner of Ruby Shiller Enenajor, Barristers, was quoted by The Globe and Mail in a news article on Friday, July 18, 2025, about the Supreme Court of Canada’s decision in R v IM, 2025 SCC 23, in which the Court overturned a lower court decision that sentenced a young offender as a adult.

Annamaria represented an intervenor in the case, the Queen’s Prison Law Clinic, and made submissions on its behalf at the Court in October 2024.

In the article, Annamaria told justice reporter David Ebner that the decision was consistent with the Court’s established views on youth criminal justice. She said the decision highlighted a philosophy of youth justice that “believes strongly in second chances.”

“It’s really about the offender and their maturiry and capacity for independent judgment,” Annamaria said.
